Durga Temple Hundis Collect Rs 3.08 Crore in 15 Days
The Durga temple in Vijayawada counted money donated by visitors over 15 days.
The temple received Rs 3.08 crore in cash.
This worked out to about Rs 19.30 lakh each day.
Visitors also gave 301 grams of gold and 3.010 kilograms of silver.
Some people donated money from other countries too.
Temple officials counted the offerings at Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam.
Security staff and police were present during the counting.
Officials said the collections showed that many devotees continue to visit the temple.
Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Vijayawada collected Rs 3.08 crore through hundis over 15 days.
The average daily hundi collection was Rs 19.30 lakh.
Devotees donated 301 grams of gold and 3.010 kg of silver ornaments.
The hundis also contained multiple foreign currencies, including US dollars, euros, pounds and dirhams.
Temple officials opened the hundis at Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam under security provided by the Special Protection Force and One Town police.
