Cabinet Approves GOBARdhan Bioenergy Scheme and Guwahati-Tezpur Highway
India's leaders got together and said yes to two big projects.
The first one is called GOBARdhan, a special plan to turn leftover organic waste into clean fuel.
This helps keep the environment clean and can give people in villages new jobs.
The plan will run for about ten years, from 2026 to 2036.
The government will spend a huge amount of money, 23,731 crore rupees, on it.
The clean fuel made from waste is called Compressed Biogas.
It could become a big part of how India gets energy in the future.
The leaders also approved building a brand new road in the state of Assam.
The road will connect the city of Guwahati to the town of Tezpur.
It will be 135.87 kilometers long and will have four lanes.
Building this road will cost about 8,970.2 crore rupees.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme with a total outlay of Rs 23,731 crore.
The scheme will be implemented from FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36.
It aims to establish Compressed Biogas (CBG) as a major component of India's future energy mix, with assured demand, stable pricing, capital assistance, pipeline connectivity, credit support and technology development.
The Cabinet also approved a 135.87-km four-lane access-controlled highway corridor between Baihata Chariali near Guwahati and Tezpur in Assam.
The highway project is estimated to cost Rs 8,970.2 crore.
The scheme seeks to transform India's organic waste resources into clean energy, rural livelihoods and economic growth.
The Cabinet approved both projects on Thursday.
