Tirupati Hosts Amaravati Championship With 9,911 Young Sportspersons

Tirupati is hosting a large sports competition called the Amaravati Championship-2026.

It will take place from August 24 to 27.

Nearly 10,000 athletes from all 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh will compete.

They will take part in 12 sports, including archery, athletics, boxing, chess and volleyball.

The athletes qualified through competitions held at constituency and district levels.

Boys and girls under 17 and university students under 23 can participate.

Officials are arranging accommodation, food, transport, medical care and security for athletes, coaches and staff.

Winners will receive more than ₹92 lakh on August 29, which is observed as National Sports Day in memory of Major Dhyan Chand.

The event is intended to encourage and recognise emerging sportspersons.
