TN Budget allocates Rs 708 crore for HR&CE, 3,000 temples

The Tamil Nadu government announced a big amount of money for temples.

It set aside Rs 708 crore for the department that looks after temples.

Part of that money, Rs 418 crore, will be used to fix 213 very old temples that are more than 1,000 years old.

The government also plans to clean up 250 temple water tanks.

It will repair 75 wooden carts used in temple festivals.

Over the next five years, special ceremonies will be held at 3,000 temples.

These ceremonies are called 'Thirukudamuzhukku' in Tamil.

Temples with lots of visitors will get better water, bathrooms, and places to stay.

The government is also choosing managers, called trustees, for thousands of temples.

It has started this process for 9,205 temples.
