Centenarians to be honoured on Sept 27 in Vijayawada

Centenarians are people who are 100 years old or more.

A group called the Vayo Vrudha Charitable Trust wants to celebrate these very special people.

They are planning a big felicitation programme on September 27.

The event will take place at Vijay Nursing College in Durgapuram, Vijayawada.

This day is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Older Persons.

The Trust will find centenarians from the Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts and bring them to the venue.

The Trust will pay for their travel from home and back.

The centenarians will be honoured by distinguished personalities and receive cash awards.

Former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu is likely to attend the event.

People who know a centenarian can call the Trust by September 1 to share information.
