UPPL to decide Assam alliance strategy by month-end
The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in Assam is going to decide by the end of January whether they will team up with other political parties for the upcoming elections.
Their leader, Pramod Boro, said they will make this decision during important meetings on January 24 and January 30-31.
However, it seems unlikely that they will team up with the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in the Bodoland region.
The BPF leader, Hagrama Mohilary, said UPPL is welcome at the state or central level but not in the Bodoland Territorial Council.
Recently, there was some violence in Kokrajhar, but the situation was quickly brought under control with the help of the police and local authorities.
