BJP Projected to Win Assam 2026 Elections

A recent survey called the People’s Pulse Tracker Poll says the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to win the next elections in Assam, India.

The survey was done between November 2025 and December 2025.

It shows that the BJP could get between 69 and 74 seats in the 126-seat Assembly, which is more than half.

The BJP's allies, together called the NDA, could get close to 90 seats.

The Congress party is expected to get between 25 and 29 seats.

The survey also shows that the BJP is popular among many groups of people in Assam, like Assamese, Ahom, OBC, and Hindu Bengali voters.

Muslim voters mostly support the Congress.

The survey suggests that people in Assam want the BJP to continue leading the state.

However, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president, Hagrama Mohilary, said that while the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) could join the state Cabinet, there would be no alliance with UPPL in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The BPF chief also mentioned that preparations for the 2026 elections are underway, with indications that the polls may be held earlier than usual, possibly in April before Rongali Bihu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam on January 17, where a large Bagurumba dance performance will take place.
