Thane Metro 4, 4A Trains Receive Safety Clearance Ahead
Thane’s new Metro 4 and 4A trains have passed an important safety check.
This means the trains are getting closer to carrying passengers.
The first service is planned between Gaimukh and Cadbury Junction.
This section is 10.5 kilometres long and has eight stations.
Six trains, called rakes, are planned for the first phase.
A special facility at Gaimukh will store and maintain them because the main depot is not finished.
Officials have inspected this facility, but its final approval has not arrived yet.
Earlier tests were carried out on part of the route.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority must complete all required approvals before services can open.
Rolling stock for the first Metro 4 and 4A phase has received safety clearance.
MMRDA is preparing to begin passenger services between Gaimukh and Cadbury Junction.
The initial 10.5-kilometre stretch will cover eight stations and use six rakes.
A temporary Gaimukh pit line has been built because the main depot is incomplete.
Final clearance for the Gaimukh facility is still awaited after a CMRS inspection.
