India updates the prices of fuel that people use in everyday life.

On August 13, new prices came out for LPG, which is cooking gas kept in cylinders, as well as CNG and PNG.

A big LPG cylinder costs 942 rupees in Delhi.

Other cities have different prices — Hyderabad has the highest at 994 rupees, while Noida has the lowest at 939.50 rupees.

The companies that sell cooking gas lose 188 rupees on every big cylinder because they sell it for less than it costs to make.

The government promises to pay them back later, but the payment is slow.

Right now, the gas companies are owed more than 59,000 crore rupees.

The government may also ask LPG and natural gas users to help pay for a $42 billion emergency fuel store.

Ships carrying oil have been attacked near important sea routes, which keeps fuel costs high.

LPG users are told not to miss an identity check deadline on August 16.
