FSSAI Cracks Down on Food Safety Violations in Three States
The government has a special group called FSSAI whose job is to make sure the food we eat is safe and clean.
In this news, FSSAI checked some food companies in different parts of India.
They found that one company in Karnataka made a sweet called Motichoor Laddoo that was not good enough to sell.
Another company in Gujarat made salt that was not good enough either.
This salt was supposed to have iodine in it, which helps keep people healthy.
When food is not good enough, FSSAI can punish the companies that made it.
The companies had to pay penalties, which are like fines for breaking the rules.
FSSAI did this to protect people and make sure companies follow food safety rules.
Those rules come from a law called the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
FSSAI imposed penalties on food manufacturers in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka for violating food safety rules.
M/s Dharwad Mishra Pedha and Food Processing Industry in Karnataka was charged for manufacturing and supplying substandard Motichoor Laddoo to distributors.
The regulator declared the sampled Motichoor Laddoo substandard under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
M/s Shree Chemfood Pvt. Ltd. in Gujarat was found to have violated FSS Act provisions related to the manufacture and sale of iodised salt.
Penalties were imposed on the manufacturers under the relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
