A historic Ganesh festival group in Mumbai has created a special idol this year.

The group is called Jitekarwadi Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshotsav Mandal.

It is celebrating its 133rd year.

The celebration is in Girgaon, near Charni Road East.

The idol is inspired by the coconut, which is also called Shrifal, or “God’s fruit.”

Coconut fruit, leaves, coir and other parts are used in the decorations.

The idol is 10 feet tall and weighs 51 kilograms.

Mumbai’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations begin on September 14, 2026.
