Mumbai celebrated the first immersion day of its Ganesh festival on September 15, 2026.

People had worshipped their Ganesh idols for one and a half days.

By 9 p.m., 24,631 Ganesh idols had been immersed.

Most of these were idols kept in homes.

The total included 110 public idols and 24,521 household idols.

Another 600 Hartalika idols were also immersed.

The city provided immersion places, including artificial ponds.

Officials said no serious incident was reported, and more immersions will happen before the festival ends on September 25.
