Bengaluru Restricts Vehicles On Five Flyovers Over Safety Concerns
Bengaluru is changing which vehicles can use five flyovers.
Four locations will receive new rules from September 4, 2026.
The Electronics City corridor will receive its rules on September 11.
Some places will not allow motorcycles or autorickshaws.
Other places will limit trucks and goods vehicles during certain hours.
Police said accidents, broken-down vehicles and traffic jams were important concerns.
They also considered the design and width of each flyover and how emergencies are managed.
The rules will be tested first so police can study their effects.

Electronics City will ban two-wheelers and autorickshaws all day and restrict all goods vehicles from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
International Airport Road will prohibit two-wheelers and autorickshaws all day and restrict goods vehicles from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Peenya, BGS and Double-Decker flyovers will impose separate restrictions on autorickshaws and heavy, medium or other goods vehicles.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police cited accidents, breakdowns, congestion, flyover design and emergency traffic management, with the rules initially imposed on a trial basis.
