MP Police to Raise Special Companies for Three Tribal Groups
The police in Madhya Pradesh, a state in India, are making new special teams.
These teams will only have people from three tribal groups called Baigas, Bharias, and Sahariyas.
These groups are known as 'Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups' because they need extra support and protection.
The police are also setting up three security forces to protect industries in the state.
This is the first time anything like this has been done in Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, announced the plan at a ceremony with police officers.
He also said a new police battalion will be built in a town called Khandwa.
Thousands of new police officers are being hired and many more are getting promoted.
The police chief said a special team called the Hawk Force helped end rebel activity, called Naxalism, in three districts.
These changes are being made so the police can be stronger and more inclusive.
Madhya Pradesh police will raise special companies exclusively for the Baigas, Bharias, and Sahariyas, who are classified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the plan at a felicitation ceremony in Bhopal, along with the establishment of three state industrial security forces for the first time.
A new police battalion will be set up in Khandwa, with more than 14,704 candidates selected for posts since 2023 and recruitment for 9,751 more underway.
A record 27,534 police officers and personnel across 58 cadres have been promoted, including 12,928 constables promoted to head constables.
DGP Kailash Makwana said the Hawk Force counterinsurgency wing was strengthened by filling 882 vacant posts and helped root out Naxalism in three districts.
