MRVC Floats ₹371 Crore Tender For AC Local Maintenance Depot At Vangaon On Western Railway · freepressjournal.in

The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, called MRVC for short, wants to build a big workshop for fixing and maintaining air-conditioned local trains.

The workshop will be built at Vangaon, on the Western Railway line near Mumbai.

MRVC has invited companies to build it by publishing a tender worth 371 crore rupees.

The depot will have places to repair trains and safe sidings where trains can park when they are not running.

The construction is expected to take about 36 months after a builder is chosen.

A similar facility is also being planned at Bhivpuri for trains on the Central Railway.

This workshop is needed because MRVC plans to buy 238 new air-conditioned local trains.

These new trains will be built at three factories run by Indian Railways.

The first new train is expected to be ready by 2027, and all of them should arrive by 2030.

The new depot will help keep these trains in good working order and make Mumbai's suburban railway stronger.
