Kuppam Wins National SKOCH Honour for Poverty, Net Zero Efforts
Kuppam received a national award for two development programmes.
One programme aims to help families reduce poverty.
It brings together government agencies, companies, NGOs, private groups and local people.
More than 8,900 families have been identified for support.
So far, 1,217 families have received help worth Rs 8.71 crore.
The help can support farming, animal rearing, tailoring and small businesses.
The second programme aims to use more clean energy in Kuppam.
It includes solar power, smart meters and batteries for storing energy.
Kuppam received a SKOCH award at the 109th SKOCH Summit in New Delhi.
Its Zero Poverty–P4 model supports families through government, corporate, NGO, private-sector and community partnerships.
A total of 8,904 families were identified, with 1,217 receiving support worth Rs 8.71 crore.
Livelihood assistance includes dairy farming, agriculture, tailoring, retail, food enterprises and mechanical activities.
Kuppam’s Net Zero programme promotes solar power, smart meters and battery storage across multiple sectors.
