Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said his government wants to help poor families become financially stronger.

He said the government is working on welfare programmes, development projects and better governance at the same time.

It has provided pensions to older people, widows and people with disabilities.

The government also gives some families three free cooking-gas cylinders each year.

Naidu said many women in DWCRA groups have started small businesses.

He said water projects will bring water to dry areas.

The government also wants to attract industries and create jobs.

New projects, including an aquaculture university, are planned for the Narsapuram region.

The government cited the Veligonda Project and plans to divert Godavari water toward North Andhra.
