Udupi Police Arrest Two in Series of House Thefts
Udupi police arrested two men over several alleged house thefts.
The arrests happened on 23 August in Perampalli Santoshanagara.
Police said the men looked for homes whose residents were away.
They allegedly entered locked houses and stole valuables.
One complaint came from Sanam, who found money missing after returning home.
Police said they recovered gold, silver, cash, foreign currency and other items.
The recovered property was valued at Rs.
23.56 lakh.
Police connected the suspects to five theft cases and also said one suspect had previously served time in a POCSO case.
Udupi police arrested Arun S V, 43, and Kaushik, 19, at Perampalli Santoshanagara on 23 August.
Police said the suspects targeted locked houses and linked them to five offences in Udupi town and Malpe limits.
Recovered items, including gold, silver, cash, foreign currency, phones, a watch, an autorickshaw and a motorcycle, were valued at Rs. 23.56 lakh.
The investigation began after Sanam reported that 10,000 UAE dirhams and Rs. 14,000 were stolen from her home.
Police said Arun had served nine years for a 2016 POCSO case registered at Manipal station and was released in July 2025.
