Police in Ongole arrested a man they say was involved in stealing from locked houses.

The accused was identified as Soheil Khan, also known as Mohammed Sameer Khan.

Police said he committed seven burglaries in different towns between June and August 2026.

They recovered gold, cash and a vehicle worth a total of ₹1.36 crore.

The police say he watched houses to find out when people were away.

They also say he melted the stolen gold before selling it.

Officers caught him after he tried to escape during a vehicle check in Ongole.

Police advised people to use CCTV cameras and tell police when leaving home for a long time.
