Ahmedabad Wholesaler Loses Licence Over Illegal Codeine Syrup Sale
Officials in Gujarat cancelled a wholesaler’s licence after a cough-syrup shipment was linked to an unlicensed seller.
The syrup contained codeine and triprolidine.
Police found the shipment during a raid at Ahmedabad’s General Post Office.
They seized 5,050 bottles.
The bottles were worth Rs 54.91 lakh.
They were being sent in postal parcels to sellers in different states.
One seller in Mizoram allegedly did not have the required licence.
Police filed a case on August 10 after a complaint made for the State.

Ahmedabad police seized 5,050 bottles of Cof-Trip codeine cough syrup on August 7.

The bottles were being sent through postal parcels to vendors in several states.
An FIR was filed at the DCB police station on August 10 following a complaint by PSI JB Desai.
