India Pledges $450M for Sri Lanka Cyclone Recovery
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Sri Lanka to meet with leaders and discuss the damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
India promised to give $450 million to help rebuild homes, roads, and schools.
The cyclone killed over 600 people and displaced around 200,000.
India has already sent a lot of supplies like food, tents, and medicine.
Jaishankar also met with Tamil community leaders and assured them of India's support.
Sri Lankan leaders thanked India for its help and called it a new chapter in their friendship.
India pledged a $450 million aid package for Sri Lanka's recovery from Cyclone Ditwah.
The package includes $100 million in grants and $350 million in concessional credit lines.
The aid will support rehabilitation of infrastructure, housing, health, education, and agriculture.
Jaishankar met with Sri Lankan leaders, including President Dissanayake and Prime Minister Amarasuriya, and Tamil community leaders.
India has already provided over 1,134 tonnes of humanitarian assistance under Operation Sagar Bandhu.
