India extends $350 million credit to Sri Lanka for cyclone relief

A big storm called Cyclone Ditwah hit Sri Lanka and caused a lot of damage.

Many roads, bridges, houses, schools, and hospitals were broken.

India wanted to help its neighbor, so it promised money to help rebuild.

Part of the help is a loan of $350 million that Sri Lanka will pay back, and part is a gift of $100 million.

The two countries officially signed the paperwork for the loan.

India also sent rescue teams, a field hospital, medicine, and more than 1,100 tonnes of supplies.

An aircraft carrier and other Indian ships helped with rescue work right after the storm.

The money will be used to fix roads, railways, bridges, houses, health and education systems, and farming.

It will also help Sri Lanka be better prepared for future disasters.
