Nepal PM Balendra Shah to Seek Climate Justice at UNGA

Nepal’s prime minister plans to speak at the United Nations about dangerous climate disasters.

Nepal produces only a small amount of the pollution that causes global warming.

However, floods, melting glaciers, and landslides are seriously harming its people and economy.

A major flood in the Bhotekoshi River area occurred on August 26.

Reports said more than 1,400 people died and over 5,000 were missing.

Nepal wants richer countries and international organizations to provide more money to help rebuild and prepare for future disasters.

Scientists said warmer conditions may have made the disaster more likely.

Nepal also says poor drainage, unsafe construction, deforestation, and development in flood-prone areas made the damage worse.
