Concor’s Double-Stack Freight Milestone Supports Broker’s ₹540 Target Price
Container Corporation of India ran a long train carrying containers from JNPT to Vadodara.
The train travelled 422 kilometres and carried 360 container units.
It used a double-stack design, meaning containers were placed two levels high.
The broker said this shows the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor can now be used in practice.
Using longer double-stack trains could reduce traffic on railway tracks.
It could also help trains carry more containers with fewer trips.
Higher truck freight rates, partly linked to rising diesel prices, may encourage some customers to use trains.
The broker expects container rail volumes could increase after the monsoon and keeps an Add recommendation on the stock.
Concor completed its first long-haul double-stack container movement from JNPT to Vadodara on August 21.
The 422-kilometre movement carried 360 twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEUs.
The broker said the movement demonstrates that the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor is operational.
Longer double-stacking could reduce congestion, improve asset utilisation and strengthen rail competition with roads.
The broker maintained an Add rating and a ₹540 target price against a current market price of ₹517.
