CG Power launches India’s largest single-location transformer plant
CG Power has opened a large factory in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, to make powerful transformers.
Transformers help move electricity over long distances.
The factory will make equipment for power networks across India and possibly other countries.
It can eventually produce up to 45,000 MVA worth of transformers.
The plant can make as many as 35 transformers each month.
These machines can help carry electricity from power stations, including renewable energy projects, to cities and industries.
The project is expected to create more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.
It is also part of CG Power’s wider expansion in electrical equipment and semiconductors.
CG Power rolled out the first transformer from its new 50-acre Sehore facility in Madhya Pradesh.
The plant will manufacture 220 kV to 1,200 kV transformers and can produce up to 35 units monthly.
Its initial installed capacity is 10,000 MVA, with planned phased capacity of 45,000 MVA.
The facility is expected to create more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
CG Power says the plant will support domestic demand, reduce import dependence and contribute to exports.
