Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors to Withdraw Emergency Services from Monday
Doctors in Andhra Pradesh who are still training are called junior doctors.
They work very hard in hospitals, taking care of sick people.
They asked the government to pay them a better training stipend.
The doctors wanted the government to promise in writing, with a clear date, that the better payment would happen.
The government did not give them that written promise by the deadline.
So the doctors decided to stop doing some of their hospital work.
They will stop working in the emergency room, the intensive care unit, and the labour room where babies are born.
The doctors say they are sorry this may make it harder for patients.
They are asking the government to talk and solve the problem quickly.
APJUDA will withdraw emergency services, including ICU, casualty and labour room duties, from 8 am on Monday, August 17.
The escalation to Phase III follows the state government's failure to provide a satisfactory written response by the 5 pm deadline on August 15.
Junior doctors are demanding a clear, written and time-bound commitment on implementation of the proposed stipend revision.
Non-emergency services were already withdrawn in earlier phases; Phase III now halts emergency services as well.
APJUDA says it remains ready for constructive dialogue and urges the government to intervene with a written resolution.
