Junior Doctors Strike at RIMS Kadapa Over Pending Stipends

Some young doctors at a big government hospital called RIMS, in the city of Kadapa, were upset because they had not been paid their monthly training money, called a stipend, for a few months.

About 300 of these junior doctors decided to go on strike on Tuesday.

They stopped helping patients who did not have emergencies, from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon.

Very sick patients who needed urgent care were still helped.

The hospital sees about 1,500 patients every day and cares for more than 600 sick people at a time, so the strike made many patients wait longer.

People who traveled from far away were especially unhappy.

The doctors' group, called the Junior Doctors' Association, talked with officials, but the talks did not solve the problem.

Their leader, Dr Shivraj, asked the officials to pay the pending stipends and give a better stipend without further delay.

The doctors want the hospital to fix the issue so that patients can be helped again.
