Tata Motors beats West Asia blues as Q1 profit surges 83% to ₹2,556 crore · livemint.com

Tata Motors is a big company in India that makes trucks and other commercial vehicles.

The company told people how much money it made in the first three months of its new financial year.

It made a lot more profit than last year, as its profit jumped by 83%.

Some of that profit came from money the company invested in another business called Tata Capital.

Even without that, the company still earned more money than before.

People bought lots of Tata Motors trucks, so the company sold more vehicles.

Prices for materials and fuel went up, so Tata Motors had to charge customers a little more.

The company is also trying to buy another truck company called Iveco from Europe.

It is waiting for permission from France to finish the deal.

Even though times were tough, Tata Motors did very well this quarter.

Quotes

Girish Wagh

Managing Director and Chief Executive of Tata Motors

“"I think demand momentum does remain strong as we have seen in the month of July. Especially in heavy trucks, heavy commercial vehicles, we see that large fleet owners are actively replacing the aging vehicles to capture better fuel economy, lower maintenance and superior total cost of ownership,"”
