Nine-Year-Old Safely Rescued After Five-Hour Alwar Borewell Ordeal
A nine-year-old boy named Bhanu was chasing a kite in a village in Rajasthan.
He stepped on a stone covering an old borewell.
The stone moved, and he fell into the opening.
He became trapped several metres underground.
Rescuers gave him oxygen and water and kept talking to him.
Disaster response teams dug around the borewell with three machines.
After nearly five hours, they safely pulled him out.
Bhanu was awake and taken to a hospital for a check-up.
Nine-year-old Bhanu fell into an abandoned borewell in Butoli village, Alwar district, while chasing a cut kite.
The boy was trapped about 40 to 50 feet underground inside a borewell reported to be roughly 400 feet deep.
Rescuers supplied Bhanu with oxygen and water while maintaining contact with him during the operation.
State and National Disaster Response Force teams used three JCB machines to excavate around the borewell.
Bhanu was brought out at about 11 pm after nearly five hours, conscious and speaking, and was taken for a medical examination.
