India EV Ecosystem Draws Over Rs 1.25 Lakh Crore

India is spending a lot of money to help people and businesses use electric vehicles.

The national government has committed more than Rs 90,000 crore for this effort.

State governments and Union territories have committed another Rs 37,613 crore for electric buses and other support.

Electric vehicles made up 8.25% of India’s vehicles in 2025-26.

About 2.5 million electric vehicles were registered during that year.

Most of them were two-wheelers, such as electric scooters.

India had about 29,000 public charging stations by June 2025.

Vehicle assembly and parts production are growing, but making battery cells inside India is progressing more slowly.
