Delhi Tops India Electric Mobility Index as EV Adoption Expands
NITI Aayog created a report to compare how Indian states are supporting electric vehicles.

Delhi ranked first in NITI Aayog’s India Electric Mobility Index 2025 with a score of 84, followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Only Delhi, Chandigarh, and Maharashtra were top performers in transport electrification progress, the index’s highest-weighted category.
Karnataka led charging infrastructure readiness with a score of 97, while Delhi led EV research and innovation with 94.
Madhya Pradesh made the largest ranking improvement, rising from 23rd place in 2024 to seventh.
India’s EV share rose to 8.25% of registered vehicles in 2025-26, with more than 8.7 million EVs on the roads.
