The government of India has a program called PM E-DRIVE that gives money to help people buy electric vehicles, which are cars and two-wheelers that run on electricity.

During financial year 2025-26, the program helped pay for more than 88,000 electric vehicles in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

About 94,000 electric vehicles were put into use in that state during the same year.

Madhya Pradesh did not receive any electric buses through the program that year.

The figures were announced by the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

Before PM E-DRIVE, there was a similar program called FAME India Phase-II that ran from 2019 to 2024.

That earlier program supported about 16.72 lakh electric vehicles across India.

The government has also made electric vehicles and charging stations cheaper by lowering the tax on them.

All of this is part of the government's push for clean-energy travel in India.
