BJP Urges Delhi to Curb Private School Uniform Costs
A Delhi BJP leader says private schools are making families spend too much money on school items.
He says some schools require parents to buy several uniforms, special clothes and different shoes.
These items are often sold only at school stores, where he says prices are very high.
The leader asked Delhi’s chief minister and education minister to change the rules.
He wants schools to use simpler uniforms and regular sports shoes.
He also wants parents to be allowed to buy supplies from shops they choose.
His proposed ban on mandatory school-store purchases would start in 2027.

The education minister’s office did not comment.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor asked the government to stop private schools from forcing parents to buy costly uniforms and school supplies.
Kapoor proposed simplified uniforms and a ban on mandatory school sales beginning in 2027 and 2028.
He said families face extra costs for sportswear, activity dresses, multiple shoes, books, stationery and bags.
Delhi’s government had previously said parents could buy uniforms, books and stationery from any vendor.
Education Minister Ashish Sood’s office declined to comment on Kapoor’s letter.
