56.6 Lakh MP Students Await Uniforms Ahead of Independence Day
Many children in Madhya Pradesh go to government schools.
They are supposed to wear a special uniform, which is a matching outfit that all students wear.
This year, the uniforms have not arrived yet.
That is a big problem because Independence Day is coming very soon on August 15.
The children were told to come to the celebration wearing their uniforms.
More than 56 lakh children are waiting to receive them.
The government wanted to give pre-stitched uniforms to every student.
It asked companies to compete for the job through a process called a tender.
But a court stopped the tender, so the uniforms could not be made.

Government school students in Madhya Pradesh were advised to attend Independence Day celebrations on August 15 wearing their prescribed school uniforms.
According to UDISE+ 2025-26 data, 56,62,228 students in Classes 1-8 of MP government schools are awaiting uniform delivery.
The MP High Court's Jabalpur bench imposed an interim stay on the around Rs 350 crore uniform supply tender floated by the Textbook Corporation on June 3.
The court directed the state government, MP Textbook Corporation and other concerned parties to submit their replies within a week.
From the 2026-27 academic session, the government will replace the earlier Rs 600 cash scheme for two uniform sets with ready-stitched uniforms procured through tender.
