Char Dham Yatra crosses 47 lakh pilgrims in 114 days
Every year, many people in India visit four special holy places in the state of Uttarakhand.
These four places are called the Char Dham, and they are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
This year, more than 47 lakh people have visited them so far.
That is about 4.68 lakh more people than last year at the same time.
The season started on 19 April, when two of the temples opened their doors.
Badrinath was the most popular, with over 16 lakh visitors.
The weather this time of year can be rainy and dangerous, so the government is watching carefully to keep pilgrims safe.
Security personnel are posted near places where landslides can happen.
The leader of the state, Pushkar Singh Dhami, is checking the safety plans every day.
Sometimes the government stops the trip for a little while when the weather is very bad.
Char Dham Yatra crossed 47,02,703 pilgrims in the first 114 days of the season, up 4,68,556 from last year.
Badrinath recorded the most visitors with 16,12,112 pilgrims, followed by Kedarnath with 14,50,116.
The Yatra began on 19 April with the opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is monitoring disaster management arrangements through the state disaster control room amid the monsoon.
Despite adverse weather, 15,376 pilgrims visited the shrines on Monday, with the pilgrimage temporarily halted where needed for safety.
