Heavy Rain Forces School Holiday in Dakshina Kannada
In Dakshina Kannada, a lot of rain fell, so the local government decided to close schools and colleges for a day.
The Deputy Commissioner said this to keep everyone safe.
Parents were told to keep kids away from rivers and the sea.
Fishermen were told not to go out to sea, and tourists were warned not to visit riverbanks or the coast.
The district also set up emergency help lines for anyone who needs assistance because of the rain.
Heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada prompted a school and college holiday.
Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan ordered closures in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulki, Ullal, and Puttur subdivisions.
The holiday extended to anganwadis, primary and high schools, pre‑university colleges, ITIs, and diploma colleges.
Public advisories urged parents to keep children away from water bodies; fishermen and tourists were warned against sea and riverbank visits.
Emergency response systems were activated and helplines 1077 and 0824‑2442590 were made available.
