Adani Power Begins ₹48,000 Crore Assam Thermal Project
Assam is getting a very large new power plant.
Adani Power will build it at Chapar in Dhubri district.
The plant will be able to produce 3,200 megawatts of electricity.

The plant will use ultra-supercritical technology and have four units.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for Adani Power’s 3,200 MW plant at Chapar in Dhubri district.
The ultra-supercritical thermal project represents an investment of approximately ₹48,000 crore and will have four 800 MW units.
Phased commissioning is scheduled to begin in December 2030.
The project is expected to create up to 20,000 construction jobs and around 5,000 permanent and indirect jobs after becoming operational.
Adani Group said about 4,500 local youths have already been hired through four or five job drives in Assam.
