Centre Sanctions Rs 94.44 Crore for Akhanda Godavari Tourism
The government has approved Rs 94.44 crore to improve tourism around the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh.
This plan is called the Akhanda Godavari tourism project.
The old Havelock Bridge in Rajahmundry will be repaired and turned into a major attraction.
Some parts will include a glass bridge, gardens, museums, an aquarium tunnel and a toy train.
Pushkar Ghat will be improved for religious activities and visitors.
Bridgelanka will have nature, boating, meditation and wellness facilities.
Other parts of the project will include nurseries, canals and nearby villages.
The work is being planned before the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams.
Officials hope the project will bring more tourists to the region.
The Centre sanctioned Rs 94.44 crore under the SASCI scheme for 2024-25.
The Akhanda Godavari project aims to make Andhra Pradesh a leading tourism destination within five years.
The 127-year-old Havelock Bridge will be preserved and developed with attractions across 18 spans.
Pushkar Ghat will become a spiritual tourism centre with facilities for pilgrims and visitors.
The tourism circuit will include Bridgelanka, Kadiyam nurseries, Godavari canals and Samisragudem ahead of the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams.
