Automatic-Door Non-AC Local Faces Technical Issues in Trials
Central Railway is testing a new non-AC local train with automatic doors.
The doors are meant to make suburban travel safer.
During an early test, experts found some technical areas that need improvement.
The train will be sent to Integral Coach Factory in Chennai for changes.
After that, it will be tested again.
More tests will check its brakes, stability, doors and other systems.
The problems do not mean the train has been permanently rejected.
It can carry passengers only after it passes every required test and receives certification.
Central Railway’s proposed automatic-door, non-AC local encountered technical issues during preliminary testing.
The rake underwent a Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation.
The tested rake will be sent to Integral Coach Factory in Chennai for modifications.
Further trials will assess running stability, ride quality, braking, doors and other safety parameters.
Passenger service can begin only after all prescribed trials and certification are completed.
