Government May Amend 8th Pay Commission Terms for Pensions

Government May Amend 8th Pay Commission Terms for Pensions
8th Pay Commission: Can government amend ToR to cover pension revision for pre-2026 retirees? · livemint.com

Some retired government workers want their pensions changed when the 8th Pay Commission reviews pay and benefits.

They are especially asking for help for people who retired before 1 January 2026.

They also want family pensions to be reviewed.

Two organizations, Bharat Pensioner Samaj and All India Defence Employees’ Federation, have made these requests.

They say pensions are financial security for retired people, not just a cost for the government.

Earlier pay commissions had their instructions changed after they began work.

This means the government could change the 8th Commission’s instructions too.

However, the government has not officially said whether it will include these pension changes.
