Suvendu Adhikari Plans Two North Bengal Wildlife Visits
Suvendu Adhikari is expected to make two visits to North Bengal.
The first is planned for September 22 in Alipurduar.
He will attend an event celebrating World Rhino Day.
He may also oversee the destruction of items seized from people involved in wildlife crimes.
The second visit is planned for October 2 at Buxa Tiger Reserve.
Officials plan to release a tigress there.
Three trained elephants have been moved from Jaldapara to help monitor the reserve.
Their mahouts will continue caring for and handling the elephants.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is scheduled to visit North Bengal twice between September 22 and October 2.
He is expected to attend World Rhino Day celebrations at Alipurduar’s Subhashini tea plantation area on September 22 at about 2:30 p.m.
Officials said Adhikari may oversee the destruction of wildlife-related items seized from smugglers, poachers and illegal wildlife traders.
Adhikari is scheduled to visit Buxa Tiger Reserve on October 2, when the Forest Department plans to release a tigress.
Three trained elephants and their mahouts have been moved from Jaldapara National Park to Buxa to support the tiger rehabilitation programme.
