Punjab Announces Statewide Awareness Drive on BC Certificates
Punjab govt to launch state-wide awareness campaign on BC certificates: Dr Baljit Kaur · thestatesman.com

Punjab is starting a campaign to help people understand Backward Class Certificates.

The campaign will explain who can receive these certificates.

Dr Baljit Kaur said some eligible people have faced problems because the rules were misunderstood.

A person’s eligibility depends on their parents’ status.

The job or income of a spouse does not decide eligibility.

The status of uncles, aunts and other relatives also does not decide it.

People cannot be rejected simply because their parents are Class III or Class IV employees.

They also cannot be rejected just because no family member had received a certificate before.

Officials will provide clearer information at government service centers and other offices.
