Assam Reports Top Performance Implementing New Criminal Laws

The new laws began replacing older criminal laws on July 1, 2024.

The state’s score was above the reported national average of 74.86%.
Assam achieved 100% compliance in the rollout of the Nyay Sanhitas and adoption of Model Rules.
It also reported full compliance in the Inter Operable Criminal Justice System, NAFIS, and medico-legal reporting systems.
The three new laws replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act on July 1, 2024.
