HCL's Vijayakumar tops highest-paid Nifty 50 CEOs in FY26
Big companies have a top boss called a CEO, and the money they are paid each year is called remuneration.
In India, the 50 biggest companies on the stock market are known as the Nifty 50.
Newspapers made a list of the ten Nifty 50 bosses who earned the most money in the financial year FY26.
The person paid the most was C Vijayakumar, the boss of a technology company called HCL Technologies, who earned about ₹160 crore.
A crore is a very large number — it means ten million, so this is an enormous amount of money.
The second-highest earner was S.N. Subrahmanyan from Larsen & Toubro, with about ₹120 crore.
Some companies, like JSW Steel, had two leaders share the pay, and together they got ₹73 crore.
The rest of the list includes the bosses of Infosys, Bajaj Finance, InterGlobe Aviation and Mahindra & Mahindra.
All ten top bosses earned nearly ₹1,443 crore together in one year.
That is a lot of money, more than most people can even imagine.
HCL Technologies CEO and Managing Director C Vijayakumar topped the FY26 Nifty 50 pay list with remuneration of ₹160.19 crore.
Larsen & Toubro Chairman and Managing Director S.N. Subrahmanyan ranked second at ₹120.84 crore, followed by Infosys CEO Salil Parekh at ₹82.60 crore.
JSW Steel's Sajjan Jindal and Jayant Acharya together received ₹73 crore, placing fourth, with Bajaj Finance MD and CEO Rajeev Jain fifth at ₹72.42 crore.
InterGlobe Aviation CEO Pieter Elbers (₹69.46 crore) and Mahindra & Mahindra MD and CEO Anish Shah (₹64.06 crore) took sixth and seventh spots.
The top 10, rounded out by Sanjiv Bajaj, Rajiv Bajaj and Mohit Joshi, collectively earned nearly ₹1,443 crore in FY26.
