Heavy Rain Lashes Delhi, Causing Waterlogging and Traffic Snarls
On Thursday, very heavy rain fell in Delhi, a big city in India.
The rain flooded roads and made traffic move very slowly.
Some roads went underwater, especially in a place called Sangam Vihar.
The rain made the city much cooler than usual.
Thursday was the wettest day of August so far this year in Delhi.
Weather experts measured the rain in many places, and Lodi Road got the most.
They expect more rain on Friday and have put out a warning called a yellow alert.
The rain may continue, but lighter, until August 10.
The rain also cleaned the air, which was rated as satisfactory.
Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi on Thursday, making it the city's wettest August day so far this year.
Lodi Road recorded the highest rainfall at 60.4 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, followed by Safdarjung at 56.0 mm.
Widespread waterlogging and traffic snarls hit areas including Sangam Vihar, Sainik Farms, ITO and near the Red Fort.
Temperatures dropped sharply, with Palam recording a maximum of 27.3 degrees Celsius, 7.1 notches below normal.
The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for Friday, with light to moderate rain expected in Delhi till August 10.
