Delhi man allegedly killed wife, recreated HBO's The Staircase plot
Something very sad happened in a home in Delhi, India.
A man named Kamal Singh is accused of hurting his wife, Komal, so badly that she died.
The family had been watching a TV show called The Staircase, about the real case of Michael Peterson, who was accused of killing his wife Kathleen, and the murder weapon was never found.
Police say what happened in their home was similar, because the weapon was also never found.
On July 30, police say Kamal attacked Komal at their home while the children were out.
Their son, Gaurav, was studying in Noida that day; he came home later that night, found his mother, and called the police.
Police say Kamal and Komal had been fighting about a piece of property and other family problems.
Kamal ran away with a lot of money, but police caught him a few days later near a train station called Mathura.
The sword police believe was used in the attack is still missing.
Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Kamal Singh (62), a freelance SAP software consultant, allegedly killed his wife Komal Singh (50) at their Gagan Vihar home in East Delhi on July 30.
Police say the killing mirrored HBO's The Staircase, which the family had been watching; in the series and the case, the murder weapon was never found.
Komal, a tuition teacher, suffered more than 10 stab wounds and was found by her son Gaurav Singh beside the living room sofa that evening.
Police cite a Jagatpuri property dispute and an alleged affair during a Mumbai trip as the motives behind the killing.
