Ather Energy Q1 Loss Shrinks, Turns EBITDA Positive
Ather Energy, a company that makes electric scooters, made less money in its first quarter of the new financial year, losing only ₹51 crore instead of more.
It sold more scooters, about 83,000, and got many people interested in buying them.
Because of this, the company started making a profit on its operating costs for the first time.
However, the cost of materials like copper and lithium went up a lot, so the profit margin went down.
Ather is building a new factory that can make half a million scooters a year and plans to launch a new scooter model on August 29.
Ather Energy’s Q1 FY27 net loss shrank to ₹51 crore, with revenue up 87% to ₹1,216 crore.
Vehicle sales rose 81% to 83,173 units, and pre‑orders jumped 158% to 1.5 lakh units.
The company turned EBITDA positive for the first time, but gross margin fell to 22.4% due to a 90% rise in raw‑material costs.
Production capacity is near full utilisation at 35,000 units/month, with a new 0.5‑million‑unit factory slated to start in Q3 FY27.
Ather plans to launch its first mass‑market scooter on the new EL platform on August 29, after raising average selling price to ₹1.61 lakh.

““There are now availability concerns on petrol and diesel. Rising petrol prices in India are definitely improving the overall total cost of ownership for electric vehicles.””
