Six Arrested, ₹5.5 Crore Gold, Silver Recovered in Ratlam, MP
A jewellery seller named Arpit Choradia was riding a bus home after a work trip.
Some passengers on the bus tried to grab his bag.
When he shouted and tried to stop them, more people joined in and hurt him.
The thieves ran away with the bag, which had jewellery, cash and documents inside.
The police watched more than 300 security camera videos to catch the robbers.
They arrested six people and found the stolen gold and silver jewellery, worth about ₹5.5 crore.
One of the arrested people used to work for the jewellery seller, and another sold tea near his shop.
Two other suspects have not been caught yet.
The police are still investigating.
Police arrested six people in connection with the robbery of jewellery trader Arpit Choradia in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.
Gold and silver ornaments worth an estimated ₹5.5 crore were recovered, including 238 gold ornaments weighing 4.167 kg and 183 silver ornaments weighing 4.047 kg.
The robbery happened on Aug 13 between 9.15 pm and 9.30 pm near Hanuman Chowki on the Umrathana Phanta route, when passengers assaulted Choradia and fled with his bag.
One accused was an employee of the jewellery trader and another ran a tea stall near his shop.
Police analysed more than 300 CCTV recordings and other technical evidence; Rohit Nayak and Gaurav Gurjar remain absconding.
