Gurugram Metro Expansion Begins With First 160-Tonne U-Girder Lifted
Workers have started a new part of the Gurugram Metro project.
They lifted the first large concrete U-shaped beam, called a U-girder.
The beam weighed 160 tonnes.
It was lifted near Cyber Park in Gurugram around midnight.
Two powerful hydraulic cranes helped place it safely.
Minister Rao Narbir Singh attended the ceremony and the lifting.
The government says the metro will help people travel between important parts of the city.
More construction work is expected to continue according to the project plan.
The first 160-tonne U-girder was lifted at Pier No. 26/27 near Cyber Park in Gurugram.
The lifting operation took place around midnight using 400-tonne and 600-tonne hydraulic cranes.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh performed a puja and attended the operation.
Officials said the milestone begins a new construction phase for the Gurugram Metro Expansion Project.
The Haryana government says the expansion will improve connectivity and provide faster, more reliable public transport.
