Drug kingpin Basoya remanded to NCB custody till August 21

A man named Virender Singh Basoya is accused of being a very important person in a big drug-selling network.

Drugs are illegal and can hurt people, so special police teams work hard to stop them.

Basoya was living in the UAE, but police brought him back to India to face questions.

A court in Pune decided he should stay with the Narcotics Control Bureau, the special drug police, until August 21.

The police say they have found a huge amount of a drug called mephedrone — about 9,000 kilograms in total.

They also recovered big quantities of the drug in the Indian cities of Pune and Delhi.

The police think Basoya planned the illegal business while staying in another country.

Police from India and other countries worked together, and an international alert called a Red Notice was issued.

His lawyer said the police only needed four days with him, but the court allowed custody until August 21.

The police still want to question him to find and catch the other people in the network.
